Brahmans & Chhetris are scattered over the hills & valleys. The Rais, Limbus, Magars, Gurung, Tamangs of mid hills have earned fame as Gorkha soldiers.
Nepali, written in Devanagiri script, is the national language as well as Lingua franca for Nepal's diverse community. Numerous languages and dialects are spoken in the kingdom. English language is widely understood in the urban centers and areas frequented by tourists.
